1. About These Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Tera platform at meettera.com, operated by Tera Marketplace Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (Company No. 17209195).
By creating an account or using the platform, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use Tera.
These Terms are governed by English law. Any disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
2. What Tera Is — and Is Not
Tera is a marketplace platform. We connect practitioners, retreat hosts, and venue owners ("Providers") with clients seeking wellness experiences ("Clients").
Tera is not a wellness service provider. We do not employ practitioners, deliver sessions, or run retreats. All wellness services are delivered by independent Providers who are solely responsible for their services.
Tera acts as a commercial agent facilitating transactions between Providers and Clients. The contract for any wellness service is between the Provider and the Client directly.
3. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old to use Tera. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or over.
You must provide accurate and complete information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
4. Account Responsibilities
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your login credentials secure
- All activity that occurs under your account
- Ensuring the information on your profile or listing is accurate, current, and not misleading
You must not:
- Create a false identity or impersonate another person
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Post content that is offensive, defamatory, or harmful
- Attempt to circumvent our commission structure by taking bookings off-platform after initial contact through Tera
- Scrape, copy, or reproduce platform content without our written permission
5. For Practitioners and Retreat Hosts
By listing on Tera, you confirm that:
- You hold all necessary qualifications, certifications, and insurances required to deliver the services you list
- Your services comply with all applicable laws and professional standards
- You will honour all bookings you confirm
- You will not misrepresent your qualifications, experience, or the nature of your services
- You will maintain appropriate professional indemnity and public liability insurance
Nuru Programme: If you are accepted into the Nuru founding programme, you will receive zero commission for 12 months from your acceptance date. After 12 months, standard commission rates apply automatically. Nuru status is non-transferable.
6. For Venue and Space Owners
By listing your space on Tera, you confirm that:
- You are the owner or authorised manager of the listed space
- The space complies with all applicable health and safety regulations
- You hold appropriate insurance for the use of the space as a wellness venue
- All information about the space (capacity, amenities, accessibility) is accurate
7. For Clients
By booking through Tera, you confirm that:
- You will attend confirmed bookings or cancel in accordance with the Provider's cancellation policy
- You will treat Providers and their spaces with respect
- You will only submit reviews based on genuine experiences
- You will not misuse the platform to harass or harm Providers
7A. The Nuru Programme — What It Means for You as a Client
What it is. The Nuru Programme is Tera's built-in equity infrastructure. It gives visibility priority and zero-commission access to Practitioners from underrepresented communities and healing traditions globally. As a client, the Nuru Programme broadens your access to a wider and more diverse range of healing modalities and traditions — including indigenous, ancestral, and non-Western practices that may not appear on other platforms.
Nuru Access Pricing. Some Practitioners on the Nuru Programme offer a community-priced tier for sessions. Where available, this price is displayed alongside the standard rate on the Practitioner's profile. Eligibility criteria may apply and will be communicated on the Platform at the time of booking.
Nuru Visibility. Where two equally relevant search results are returned, Nuru Practitioners are surfaced first. This does not affect the accuracy or relevance of your results — it is a tiebreaker only, not a ranking override.
Cultural Modality Library. Tera maintains a library describing healing traditions from around the world. Content in the Library is for informational purposes only and does not constitute medical or therapeutic advice.
8. Bookings and Payments
Booking process: Clients request bookings through the platform. Practitioners have 48 hours to accept or decline. If no response is received within 48 hours, the booking expires automatically and any payment authorisation is released.
Payment: Tera processes payments through Stripe. By making a payment, you agree to Stripe's terms of service.
Commission: Tera charges a commission on each completed transaction:
- Practitioner-side fee: 6–8% of the booking value
- Client service fee: 8–10% at checkout
- Combined take rate: 16–18%
- Nuru programme practitioners: 0% practitioner-side fee for 12 months
Payouts: Provider payouts are released 24 hours after session or retreat completion via Stripe Connect.
Retreat deposits: For retreat bookings, a deposit is charged at the time of booking to secure the Client's place. The balance is due 30 days before the retreat start date.
8A. Health, Safety and Wellbeing
Not medical advice. Nothing on the Tera platform — including Practitioner profiles, session descriptions, the Cultural Modality Library, or any content submitted by users — constitutes medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Wellness services listed on Tera are not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care.
If you have a medical condition, mental health concern, or are pregnant, you should consult a qualified healthcare professional before booking any wellness service through Tera.
Your responsibility. You are responsible for ensuring that any service you book is appropriate for your health and personal circumstances. You should disclose any relevant health information to a Practitioner before or at the start of a session, as requested. Tera accepts no liability for adverse outcomes arising from your failure to do so.
Emergency situations. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, contact the emergency services (999 in the UK) immediately. Do not rely on the Tera platform in emergency situations.
Practitioner qualifications. While Tera verifies Practitioner credentials as part of the onboarding process, Tera does not guarantee the quality, safety, or efficacy of any wellness service. You are strongly encouraged to review a Practitioner's qualifications, credentials, and reviews before booking.
9. Cancellations and Refunds
Practitioner cancellations: If a practitioner cancels within 48 hours of a confirmed session, the client receives a full refund.
Client cancellations: Refund entitlement depends on the Provider's cancellation policy, which is displayed on each listing before booking. Please review the cancellation policy carefully before booking.
Retreat cancellations: Each retreat host sets their own cancellation policy (displayed on the retreat listing). Typical terms are: full refund 60+ days before, partial refund 30–60 days before, no refund within 30 days. Always check the specific policy before booking.
Disputes: If you have a dispute about a booking, contact us at hello@meettera.com. We will do our best to facilitate a fair resolution but are not liable for the quality or outcome of services delivered by Providers.
9A. Your Statutory Right to Cancel (Cooling-Off Period)
Where you book a service to be delivered more than 14 days after the booking date, you have a statutory right under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013 to cancel your booking within 14 days of the booking confirmation date and receive a full refund, including any Tera service fee.
To exercise this right, notify us at hello@meettera.com within 14 days of your booking confirmation, quoting your booking reference.
Important exception: If you expressly request that the service begins within the 14-day cooling-off period — for example, by booking a session scheduled within 14 days — you acknowledge that your statutory right to a full refund may be reduced in proportion to any service already delivered before you cancel.
For retreat bookings, if the retreat begins within 14 days of booking, the cooling-off right may be limited. The Provider's cancellation policy (displayed at checkout) will apply in these circumstances.
10. Reviews
Reviews must be honest, based on genuine experience, and must not be defamatory. Tera reserves the right to remove reviews that violate these standards.
You must not offer or accept incentives in exchange for reviews.
11. Content and Intellectual Property
You retain ownership of content you upload to Tera (photos, descriptions, bios). By uploading content, you grant Tera a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use, display, and reproduce that content for the purpose of operating and promoting the platform.
You must not upload content that infringes the intellectual property rights of any third party.
All Tera platform content, design, and code is owned by Tera Marketplace Ltd and may not be copied or reproduced without our written permission.
12. Limitation of Liability
Tera is a marketplace intermediary. To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- We are not liable for the quality, safety, legality, or outcome of any wellness service delivered by a Provider
- We are not liable for any injury, loss, or damage arising from your use of a Provider's services or spaces
- Our total liability to you in connection with the platform shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to Tera in the 12 months preceding the claim
Nothing in these Terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.
13. Platform Availability
We aim to keep Tera available at all times but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend or withdraw access to the platform for maintenance, security, or legal reasons.
14. Termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or behave in a way that harms other users or the platform.
You may close your account at any time by contacting hello@meettera.com. Closing your account does not affect any outstanding bookings or payment obligations.
15. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email or by displaying a notice on the platform. Continued use of the platform after changes are notified constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
