Postnatal Recovery

Nuru member

Postnatal recovery encompasses healing practices that support new mothers in the weeks, months, and sometimes years after birth. This includes physical recovery from birth, emotional processing, hormonal rebalancing, and reconnection with the self beyond motherhood.

Cultural origin

The postnatal period has been honoured as sacred across cultures worldwide — from the 40-day rest tradition in Middle Eastern and Asian cultures, to the cuarentena in Latin America, to African traditions of communal postnatal care.

What a session involves

Sessions vary by modality and may include postnatal massage, yoga, pelvic floor therapy, energy healing, nutritional support, or talking therapy. All postnatal practitioners on Tera are trained to support the specific needs of new mothers.

Who it's for

Women in the postnatal period — from immediately after birth through the first year and beyond. It is never too late to seek postnatal support.

Cultural and ancestral practices belong to specific lineages and peoples. We ask seekers to approach them with respect, and practitioners to share their training and lineage in their profile.
