Pilates

Pilates is a system of controlled movement designed to strengthen the core, improve posture, and build full-body awareness. It is used by dancers, athletes, and rehabilitation clients alike. Tera hosts both mat Pilates and reformer Pilates practitioners.

Cultural origin

Developed in Germany in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates. Widely adopted globally as a therapeutic and fitness practice.

What a session involves

Sessions focus on slow, precise movements with an emphasis on breath and core engagement. Mat sessions use bodyweight; reformer sessions use a spring-based apparatus. Sessions typically run 45–60 minutes.

Who it's for

All levels and ages. Particularly popular for back pain, postnatal recovery, injury rehabilitation, and performance enhancement.
