Curanderismo

Nuru member

Curanderismo is a holistic healing tradition that addresses physical, emotional, spiritual, and social dimensions of health. Curanderos work with plants, ritual, prayer, and energy to restore balance and remove spiritual obstacles to wellbeing. It is a living tradition passed down through generations.

Cultural origin

Mexico, Central America, and South America — a healing tradition rooted in indigenous Mesoamerican practices blended with Spanish Catholic influences, practised by curanderos and curanderas.

What a session involves

Sessions vary greatly by practitioner and tradition. They may include limpia (spiritual cleansing), plant medicine, prayer, ritual, energy work, and guidance. Sessions typically last 60–90 minutes.

Who it's for

Those of Latin American heritage and diaspora, and those drawn to indigenous Mesoamerican healing wisdom. Curanderismo offers a complete framework for healing that honours the spiritual alongside the physical.
