Craniosacral Therapy
Craniosacral therapy is an extraordinarily gentle hands-on approach that works with the craniosacral system — the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. It supports the body's natural healing capacity and is deeply calming to the nervous system.
Cultural origin
Developed in the United States by osteopath John Upledger in the 1970s, building on earlier work by William Garner Sutherland.
What a session involves
The client lies fully clothed on a treatment table. The practitioner uses a very light touch (typically no more than the weight of a coin) at points along the spine, skull, and sacrum to detect and release restrictions. Sessions last 60–90 minutes and are deeply relaxing.
Who it's for
Anyone with chronic pain, headaches, trauma, stress, or nervous system dysregulation. Particularly effective for babies, children, and those who find deeper bodywork too much.
