5Rhythms is a movement meditation practice that maps five rhythms — Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical, and Stillness — as a wave of transformation. It is not choreographed. You move as you are, where you are.

Cultural origin

Developed by Gabrielle Roth in New York in the 1970s, drawing on shamanic and Eastern movement traditions.

What a session involves

A guided movement journey through the five rhythms, typically set to music. Sessions run 90 minutes to 3 hours. No dance experience needed — only a willingness to move.
